GAČR Standard Grant Projects
Funds Czech fundamental research teams at universities through annual project grants for broad scientific questions.
GAČR Standard Grant Projects are the Czech Science Foundation's core basic-research line for universities and research institutions in Czechia. The scheme has operated since 1993 and supports work across all scientific fields, with projects typically lasting two to three years. For the 2027 call, the submission deadline was 31 March 2026 and results were announced for late November, which keeps the program on a predictable annual rhythm. The 2026 funding pool backed 336 Standard Projects with about CZK 3.0 billion, and the historical success rate is around 14%. Evaluation runs through discipline committees and external reviewers, so the program favors proposals with a clear basic-research question and a strong disciplinary fit rather than consortia or applied delivery. It is open to researchers at any career stage, with no age restriction, and it works best for applicants who already have a Czech host institution and enough room to mature a question over several years. The line sits at the center of GAČR's funding and remains the benchmark route for investigator-led basic research in Czechia.
