SIGMA Programme

SIGMA Programme is the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic's flagship applied research and innovation programme. It sits under TA CR, a Czech federal agency, and gathers the agency's main routes for commercialisation, industrial chairs, social sciences and humanities, bilateral cooperation, and EIC Accelerator Seal of Excellence top-ups into one umbrella call structure. Applications move through SISTA in English, which makes SIGMA the central national route for applied R&D inside TA CR's programme family. The programme uses grant funding and reaches from small commercialisation studies at 70% intensity and up to CZK 730,000, to Industrial Chairs awards of up to CZK 42 million at 60% intensity, bilateral cooperation projects of up to CZK 20 million at 75% intensity, and Seal of Excellence top-ups of up to CZK 25 million at 70% intensity. Applicants are enterprises and research organisations registered in Czechia, with filings and beneficial-ownership checks in place, and the match-funding requirement sits at 30%. SIGMA is strongest for Czech teams that can show an applied research problem, a credible route to use or transfer results, and the institutional readiness to run in an English-language public call system. Its design makes it less a single-purpose programme than a set of adjacent routes, so the right entry point depends on whether the project is a commercialisation study, a researcher-placement play, a bilateral partnership, or a Seal of Excellence follow-on.
