KfW Klimaschutzoffensive für Unternehmen (293) is part of KfW Bankengruppe's company-side energy and environment portfolio. KfW is Germany's development bank, founded in 1948 and used by the federal government and the Länder to steer long-term investment into the economy and the energy transition, so this line sits inside a large public financing platform rather than a stand-alone call. The program is a rolling loan for SMEs and the Mittelstand that are reducing or avoiding greenhouse-gas emissions. It is limited to projects in Germany, excludes individuals, and carries a maximum lending ceiling of €26.75 million. The loan structure makes it a fit for capital-heavy climate work where the borrower needs significant debt capacity to move ahead. The strongest use case is a company with a clear decarbonization investment plan, such as process changes, energy-system upgrades, or other measures with a direct emissions effect. Because the route is debt-based rather than a grant, it rewards projects that are ready to be financed and executed without waiting for a one-off public award cycle.
