Semper Ardens Advance

Offers five-year competitive support for internationally recognised Danish professors pursuing ambitious scientific research.

Carlsberg FoundationDenmarkGrant

Semper Ardens Advance sits under the Carlsberg Foundation, Denmark’s enterprise foundation, and backs visionary basic research at the highest international level. It awards five-year grants of DKK 15 million to DKK 25 million to tenured professors at Danish research institutions, with priority for projects that move into new scientific territory. Teams may include up to four principal investigators, the main applicant must remain at least 80% employed throughout the grant period, and the project must absorb at least 50% effort from the core team. The majority of the work must take place in Denmark, and applications are submitted in English through CF-Grant; the 2026 call opened on May 31, 2026 and closed on September 1, 2026 at 16:00. The program suits senior researchers with strong institutional footing, an established Danish appointment, and a project that can justify a large five-year commitment. Projects that enter genuinely new scientific territory receive priority, so novelty has to sit alongside a credible team structure and a full application package with budget, CVs, publication lists, and a research-group description.
