CDTI Science & Innovation Missions (Misiones Ciencia e Innovación)

Funds strategic Spanish industrial consortia building mission-oriented solutions in fields from energy to health.

CDTI Misiones Ciencia e Innovación sits under CDTI E.P.E. as a large consortium grant for collaborative industrial R&D tied to Spain's strategic priorities. The programme is built for companies that can work together around nationally defined missions, and the 2026 round carried a EUR 60 million budget. Its mission themes include energy, aeronautics, health, defence, food, and housing, with specific reserve lines for aerospace and women's health. The call requires consortia of three to six Spanish companies, with at least one SME and one coordinator. Eligible project budgets run from EUR 3.5 million to EUR 10 million, and the support rate ranges from 65 percent to 80 percent depending on company size. Projects are expected to last three to four years starting in 2027, with at least 40 percent of activity in industrial research and 15 percent of eligible costs subcontracted to research organisations. The minimum spend per participant is EUR 175,000. This programme rewards applicants that can assemble a disciplined consortium with a clear industrial workshare and enough technical depth to absorb a multi-year budget. It is not a lightweight partnership scheme; the strongest cases usually show a credible coordinator, a realistic division of responsibilities, and a mission frame that connects directly to Spain's strategic agenda. Applicants that treat the call as a joint development platform rather than a loose network proposal are better placed to compete.
