Innova Invest
Invests Supports foreign-owned companies that establish new innovation work activity in Spain with non-dilutive grants.
Innova Invest is ICEX’s grant line for foreign-capital companies that bring new research and development work into Spain. It sits under ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones and operates within the European Regional Development Fund 2021 to 2027 framework. The program provides grants, not loans or equity, and can cover up to €800,000 per beneficiary. Aid intensity ranges from 25 percent to 50 percent of eligible investment, with a minimum project investment of €500,000 and a total allocation of €10.8 million for the 2021 to 2027 period. Calls open through publication in Spain’s official gazette and allow up to two months for applications. Eligible companies must be for-profit, registered and operating in Spain, and the selection logic favors business capacity, employment impact, and contribution to the green and digital transition. The strongest fit is a company that already has foreign capital and wants to anchor new R&D activity in Spain rather than simply expand sales or routine operations. Applicants need a clear execution plan, a realistic investment profile, and evidence that the project will create measurable economic spillovers. Because the program moves in annual calls, preparation needs to start before the next call is published rather than after it opens.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
