Formación de Profesorado Universitario (FPU) is the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities' main predoctoral contract program. It supports doctoral students at Spanish universities and offers 870 annual awards, with 43 reserved for applicants with a disability of 33% or more. The standard contract runs four years, rising to six years for the reserved disability positions. Minimum annual compensation is €25,116, paid in 12 monthly instalments plus two extra payments, and the award package also includes a postdoctoral orientation period of up to one year and funding for research stays. Applicants need a degree and doctoral enrolment or access to doctoral study, and previous FPU recipients cannot apply again.
