ESA InCubed — Earth Observation Co-Funding
Backs international partnerships funding commercial Earth observation products and services with mission-focused agencies.
ESA InCubed, short for Investing in Industrial Innovation, is ESA's rolling co-funding route for commercial Earth observation products, services, and infrastructure. It is built as a partnership between ESA, participating national delegations, and industry, so delivery runs through both ESA and the national space agencies that choose to back each project. Public materials do not state a single award size, because co-funding levels vary by activity type and TRL. Applicants move through a two-step process: a 15-minute pitch and 45-minute Q&A, then, if invited forward, a four- to six-week full proposal and contract stage. Eligibility includes for-profit companies, with universities and research organizations also allowed, and the geography covers participating ESA Member States. Success depends on a commercial Earth observation use case that a national delegation is willing to support. Applicants should expect the home member state to authorize the proposal and co-fund it, which means the strongest submissions usually fit national priorities as well as ESA's industrial objective. The program suits teams that already have a clear market, a defined delivery plan, and a product that can be advanced in partnership with public space actors.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
