EIC Transition
Offers EU programme routes that convert strong research outcomes into market-ready developments.
EIC Transition sits under the European Innovation Council as the bridge from validated research results toward market entry. It is designed for projects that build on earlier EU-funded work, especially EIC Pathfinder, ERC Proof of Concept, and Horizon Europe research and innovation actions. The program is aimed at teams that have already cleared the first proof stage and need funding to turn a research result into a sharper, more market-ready proposition. The grant reaches up to €2.5 million and the program runs annually. Applicants can come in as single SMEs, start-ups, spin-offs, research organisations, or universities, and consortia of two to five entities from different EU or associated countries are also eligible. The call expects proof of concept at TRL 3 or lab validation at TRL 4, and awardees also gain access to EIC Business Acceleration Services. Transition works best when the team can show continuity from an eligible predecessor project and a clear next technical step. It is a practical route for groups that need to validate use, refine the technology, and prepare for a commercial pathway without jumping straight to scale-up capital. The most persuasive applications connect the earlier research result to a concrete market problem and a realistic development plan.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
