LIFE Programme

Supports EU's dedicated environment and climate action programme grants for nature, circular economy, climate mitigation and adaptation, and clean energy transition across.

The LIFE Programme is the European Union's dedicated environment and climate action instrument for 2021–2027, managed by CINEA on behalf of the relevant policy directorates. It covers nature, circular economy, climate mitigation and adaptation, and clean energy transition, and it has supported more than 6,500 projects historically across those strands. LIFE uses Standard Action Projects, Strategic Nature Projects, Strategic Integrated Projects, Technical Assistance, operating grants for NGOs, and clean-energy transition coordination actions. For-profit firms, non-profits, universities, and research organisations can apply, while individuals cannot. The programme is EU-wide and runs through annual calls, with budgets and deadlines set at call level rather than through one fixed programme-wide award cap. The strongest proposals are tightly aligned to one sub-programme and show a credible delivery plan for conservation, climate resilience, resource efficiency, or energy-transition capacity. Smaller commercial teams tend to fit best where the topic explicitly supports close-to-market work, while larger organisations are better placed for integrated nature or climate projects that need a broader consortium and a longer implementation horizon.
