HFRI Procurement of High-Value Research Equipment

Helps HFRI Procurement of High Value Research Equipment for procure major research infrastructure equipment.

The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation's Procurement of High-Value Research Equipment program funds capital purchases for Greek universities and research centres. It is aimed at research infrastructure, not project work, so the relevant question is whether a proposed purchase fills a real equipment gap. The most recent second call carried a €7.56 million budget and ran from March to April 2023. Eligibility is institutional: universities are required, research centres are allowed, and individual applicants or companies are not eligible. The program is open in Greek and English and follows a roughly biennial cadence. Applications are strongest when the equipment clearly supports broader research capacity and can be justified as a durable institutional asset. Because this is a procurement route, the case has to be about infrastructure need, research use, and institutional readiness rather than experimental milestones, so planning has to start from the institution's own capabilities and long-term priorities.
