HFRI Research Projects for Faculty Members and Researchers

Helps HFRI Research Projects for Faculty Members and Researchers for faculty and senior researchers at Greek institutions.

The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation's Research Projects for Faculty Members and Researchers are its largest basic-research grants by budget. The program supports faculty members and senior research scientists at Greek universities, research centres, institutes, and university research institutes across the same nine scientific areas used in HFRI's other project schemes. The most recent third call carried a €55.08 million budget, drew 2,196 proposals, and opened from November 2023 to January 2024. Funded projects run for 36 to 48 months, and the program follows a roughly two- to three-year cycle. The eligible principal investigator must be embedded in a Greek research institution, with Greek and English documentation accepted. This is HFRI's main platform for larger, competitive basic-research projects. The strongest applications are likely to be those with a clearly scoped research question, a credible team or host setting, and a plan that fits the long project window without relying on commercial delivery assumptions.
