HFRI Research Projects for Postdoctoral Researchers

The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation's Research Projects for Postdoctoral Researchers fund independent projects led by postdoctoral researchers at Greek institutions. The program sits within HFRI's national research portfolio and covers nine scientific areas, from physical sciences and engineering to humanities, environment and energy, and management and economics of innovations. The most recent fourth call carried a €9.25 million budget, opened in May 2024, and funded projects for 18 to 24 months. Principal investigators must be postdoctoral researchers based at a Greek institution, with universities and research centres able to host the work. The program is open in Greek and English and recurs on roughly a biennial cycle. The fit is strongest for researchers who already have a defined agenda and the institutional backing to carry it through as a discrete project. Because the award is tied to a named principal investigator, the application has to read like an executable research plan rather than a general academic profile.
