HFRI Science and Society
Helps HFRI Science and Society for science outreach and public engagement with research.
The Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation's Science and Society program funds public engagement and science outreach work through themed calls. Each round is framed around a specific topic, so the program is less a standing theme and more a recurring national call series that changes focus from year to year. The most recent sixth call carried a €1 million budget and ran from October to December 2024. The program is open to non-profit bodies, universities, and research organisations in Greece, with Greek and English documentation accepted. Some editions have been co-funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, and the sixth call's nutritional-awareness topic shows how narrowly each round can be framed. The best fit is for organizations that can translate research into public-facing activity with a clear thematic hook. Strong applications should match the call topic closely and show why the outreach work is credible, timely, and likely to reach a real audience rather than simply restating research results.
