PRIN Hybrid
Funds interdisciplinary Italian projects at the intersection of social sciences and frontier technologies.
PRIN Hybrid sits under Italy's Ministry of University and Research as the interdisciplinary branch of the PRIN family. The 2026 call was framed as a first-edition instrument for projects that combine scientific and technological work with humanities, social science, and artistic perspectives, and it is limited to Italian research teams. The program funds 3-year grants of €1.2 million to €1.7 million from a €56.64 million budget. Consortia must include 4-6 research units and bring together social sciences and humanities with at least one other research field. The 2026 themes were quantum technologies, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and innovative health technologies, and 15% of the budget was reserved for principal investigators under 40. Selection moves through a three-stage review: technical-scientific screening, full project evaluation, and financial congruity review. The program is most relevant to university-led teams that can span disciplines without losing a clear research question, since the call rewards breadth only when the consortium can still present a coherent plan, credible governance, and a deliverable three-year work program.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
