AlphaLab Accelerator
Invests uncapped safety framework and equity for Pittsburgh-based tech startups across four tracks.
AlphaLab Accelerator sits under Innovation Works in Pittsburgh and serves as the firm's flagship accelerator for technology startups. The program runs four tracks: Software, Gear, Health, and Robotics, with the robotics path linked to the Robotics Factory. It is built for founders who can stay physically present in Pittsburgh and commit full time, and it opens several times a year rather than on a single annual deadline. Accepted teams receive $100,000 through an uncapped SAFE, paid in two $50,000 tranches, in exchange for 3% equity. The program is for for-profit U.S. companies that are incorporated and operating in the United States, with U.S. work authorization and exclusive rights to the relevant intellectual property. The model is clearly investment-led rather than grant-led. AlphaLab is strongest for early teams that can move quickly and use the accelerator as a bridge into later capital. Graduates can access follow-on investment from Innovation Works and Riverfront Ventures, so the fit is less about a one-time award and more about building toward a venture path in Pittsburgh.
