Invitational Fellowships for Research in Japan
Connects overseas researchers with Japanese host institutions for collaborative research visits and academic exchange.
Brings overseas researchers with excellent records of achievement to Japan to engage in collaborative research, discussions and exchange of perspectives with Japanese researchers. Two tiers: Long-term and Short-term. Applications are routed via the Japanese host institution. FY2027 schedule shows two recruitments: 1st (Long-term + Short-term) deadline 28 August 2026; 2nd (Short-term only) deadline 23 April 2027. Selection results announced late December 2026 / early August 2027 respectively. Fellows arrive in Japan during the FY2027 period (1 April 2027 – 31 March 2028).
