KEIT Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) Program

Supports researchers through KEIT Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center, helping them build global industry-university partnerships.

The Global Industrial Technology Cooperation Center (GITCC) Program is a multi-year MOTIE/KIAT initiative that establishes 'industrial technology cooperation centers' at overseas excellent research institutes, then funds joint R&D between Korean enterprises and global academia-industry-research consortia matched through those centers. Two tracks run in parallel under each annual call: (1) GITCC — establishment of one new cooperation center at an overseas institute, funded at around KRW 600 million per year for 5 years; and (2) Joint R&D — collaborative projects led by Korean enterprises with mandatory overseas joint-R&D institutes (typically GITCC partner institutions or NCCs), funded at around KRW 2 billion per year for up to 5 years (42 + 18 months phased). Year 1 (2026) is pro-rated to 5 months (August-December) at up to KRW 0.8 billion; total maximum government R&D support is KRW 10 billion per project over 60 months. Areas: semiconductor, display, battery, biotechnology, future mobility, robotics, AI. KIAT is the managing institute; National Collaboration Centers (NCCs) include KAIST, KIMM, KITECH, KATECH, KERI, KETI, ETRI, KRICT (selected in 2024). For Joint R&D, the lead institute must be a Korean company; overseas-institute work-share must be at least 40% (with justified exceptions). At least one Korean-company researcher must be dispatched overseas for more than half of the project period. Application is via email (gitcc@kiat.or.kr) for GITCC and via K-PASS (k-pass.kr) for Joint R&D.
