Baltic Bonus
Provides Small top-up grants for Latvian researchers and small and enterprises who bring Baltic Sea region partners into international research calls.
Baltic Bonus is a small top-up programme under the Latvian Council of Science for Latvian scientific institutions and SMEs that bring Baltic Sea region partners into international research and innovation projects. The eligible partner countries are Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Poland, so the scheme is built to strengthen regional collaboration rather than fund standalone domestic work. The top-up is EUR 5,000 when the Latvian party is the coordinator and EUR 3,000 when it is a partner. Awards are issued first come, first served from the available state-budget allocation, and the applicant must already have a partner project that has cleared the partner funding organisation’s quality threshold. The programme is rolling and the 2026 implementation regulation is already published. This is best treated as an additive incentive after a cross-border project is already taking shape. It works for institutions or SMEs that can secure a credible international call result and want a modest Latvian top-up to deepen Baltic Sea collaboration. The programme rewards timing, a qualifying partner award, and a clean administrative fit more than complex project design.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
