More Jobs for Marylanders (MJM)
Provides Maryland manufacturing employers with wage-based tax credits tied to new jobs.
More Jobs for Marylanders, or MJM, was Maryland's manufacturing jobs tax credit under the Maryland Department of Commerce. The program is now wound down, with no new enrollment accepted after its June 1, 2024 sunset. Existing certificate holders can still work through annual filings, so it functions now as a legacy route for companies already inside it. Historically, the credit reimbursed 4.75 percent of wages for each qualified manufacturing job created in Maryland. It applied to manufacturers in NAICS 31 to 33, excluding refiners, and earlier tiers required between 5 and 20 new positions depending on location and enrollment date. Tier 1 areas received a 10-year benefit period, while Tier 2 areas received 5 years. The practical value now is historical and administrative, not open enrollment. Companies still holding certificates need to keep annual paperwork in order, but new applicants should look elsewhere for manufacturing support. For any buyer or advisor reviewing old Maryland incentives, MJM is useful as a precedent for wage-based manufacturing tax relief rather than as an active funding route.
