Job Training Incentive Program
Offers fast workforce grants for Minnesota employers that add jobs and upgrade skills.
Minnesota's Job Training Incentive Program sits under the Department of Employment and Economic Development and backs new or expanding businesses in Greater Minnesota with grants of up to $200,000. It is built for firms that need to train workers quickly as they add new positions, especially outside the seven-county Twin Cities metro and in a small set of designated cities. The program is grant-based and runs rolling, first come first served. DEED reviews complete applications within 15 business days, and eligible firms must add at least three jobs paying at least $39,600 a year in 2026, with those jobs running at least 32 hours a week for nine months of the year. Funds can cover trainee wages during on-the-job training, curriculum development, materials, equipment, and assessment or certification costs, and the business match is 0.5 to 1. JTIP is best suited to employers with a near-term hiring plan and a concrete training budget. The strongest applications are from businesses that can prove the new jobs are real, local, and ready to start, and that can move through DEED's approval process without delay.
