Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development
Administers Minnesota economic development as the state agency for enterprise and growth support.
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (MN DEED) is Minnesota's principal state economic development agency in the United States. It supports business expansion, workforce training, community development, and international trade through loans, grants, and tax incentives, and the agency administers more than 20 financing programs.
The record links DEED to the Minnesota Investment Fund, Greater Minnesota Job Expansion Program, Minnesota Job Skills Partnership, Job Training Incentive Program, Minnesota Job Creation Fund, Minnesota Angel Tax Credit, and Launch Minnesota Innovation Grant. Across those routes the agency works in manufacturing, hardware, AI infrastructure, energy, medtech, biotech, and transport.
DEED often sits between the applicant and the money. Some routes run through local governments, some follow board or cycle-based deadlines, and others are tax incentives that DEED certifies on behalf of the state. For companies and local partners, it is a broad entry point for location, hiring, training, and expansion support rather than a single-purpose grantmaker.
