The BIG Programme (Business Innovation Grant)

The BIG Programme (Business Innovation Grant) sits under Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's federal startup agency, which was founded in 2003 and is now administered by MOSTI. Cradle says its mission is to build an ecosystem for technology entrepreneurs and help Malaysia produce globally competitive startups, and it reports backing more than 1,000 Malaysian tech startups. BIG is a 1:1 matching grant of up to RM2,000,000 for Malaysian corporates. The corporate contributes half of the project cost, while the programme covers development and implementation over 12 months. Eligibility is limited to publicly listed corporations with revenue above RM500 million, government-linked companies with Malaysian government control, and Minister of Finance Inc. entities. The route is designed for corporate-startup co-development rather than direct startup applications. It runs through two tracks, one for corporate-startup partnerships and one for corporate co-development, so the strongest fit is a large Malaysian company that can pair a clear business problem with a startup partner and share execution risk.
