Malaysia Digital Economy CorporationMalaysiaGrant

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation runs the Digital Content Grant (DCG) in Malaysia as a government-backed route for animation, digital games, comics, and creative technology companies. The programme has operated since 2016 and sits inside MDEC’s wider role under the Ministry of Digital. It is aimed at local creative-content companies that need co-funding for production and market development, not at individual creators or research groups. The grant is split into three tiers: Mini Grant up to RM150,000, Prime Grant up to RM500,000, and Marketing & Commercialisation Grant up to RM300,000. Applicants need more than half of the project team to be Malaysian, can outsource no more than 20% of the grant amount, and must submit one year of audited financial statements. The most recent published window ran from September 2024 to April 2025, and the programme was between cycles at fetch time. MDEC evaluates capability, project fit, deliverables, resourcing, commercial viability, and financial stability, so the strongest submissions read like production plans with a clear business case. Companies that can show Malaysian team depth, disciplined spending, and a credible route to market are the ones this programme is built to back.
