Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation
Runs Malaysia's digital economy growth agenda by funding startups, digitization programs, and infrastructure for digital adoption.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation is Malaysia's lead agency for digital economy development under the Ministry of Digital. Established in 1996, it funds, facilitates, and accelerates digital businesses through direct grants, the Malaysia Digital incentive framework, and national-scale digital initiatives.
Its active grant line-up includes the Digital Content Grant, Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant, Malaysia Digital X-Port Grant, Malaysia Digital Acceleration Grant, and MDAG-AI. Awards run from RM500,000 up to RM5 million, with MDAG-AI offering up to RM2 million or 70% of project costs for Malaysia-incorporated companies that hold Malaysia Digital or MSC Malaysia status.
The agency is most useful for Malaysian companies that are already organised enough to meet status, incorporation, and operating-history requirements. Its grants favour export readiness, disruptive digital products, and AI deployment, with reimbursement tied to performance milestones rather than simple upfront cash. That makes it a strong fit for firms that can document traction, technical execution, and a clear route to commercial scale.
