Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation’s Malaysia Digital Catalyst Grant (MDCG) backs Malaysian tech companies building disruptive, innovative, sustainable solutions across the Malaysia Digital sectors. It sits under MDEC and the Ministry of Digital and is framed around the National Fourth Industrial Revolution agenda. The grant is aimed at companies that already have a commercial path in mind and need co-funding to turn that into a larger product or market push. Local-owned companies can receive up to 50% of project costs, capped at RM1 million, while majority foreign-owned companies can receive up to 30% of costs, also capped at RM1 million. Projects can run for up to 12 months, and the programme was described as available throughout the year subject to funding. Local-owned applicants need at least 51% Malaysian equity, RM50,000 issued capital, one year of operations, and Malaysia Digital or MSC Malaysia status; foreign-owned applicants need RM500,000 issued capital and a one-year operating history. Applicants also need to show new IP creation or commercial value, provide financial statements and board resolutions, and avoid undisclosed end-user relationships. The programme also expects companies to be in good standing rather than in liquidation or bankruptcy. That makes MDCG a fit for firms with defensible technology, clean governance, and a realistic product path inside a one-year commercial window.
