NIA Small Business Programs manage what the agency describes as the largest source of early-stage funding for aging-related R&D. NIA provides approximately $150 million in R&D grants annually to small businesses through SBIR and STTR mechanisms. The program covers Phase I feasibility studies, Phase II full R&D, and Phase IIB bridge awards. AD/ADRD is the highest-priority focus area.
