NJ CSIT Clean Tech Seed Grant Program
Funds early-stage clean technology companies moving research toward commercial products.
The NJ CSIT Clean Tech Seed Grant Program is the New Jersey Commission on Science, Innovation and Technology's non-dilutive seed track for early-stage clean technology and clean energy companies. It is designed to move research-stage ideas toward commercial technologies, with a focus on New Jersey firms working in the state's clean-tech ecosystem. Round 4 closed in January 2026 after supporting 17 startups with roughly $1.3 million. The grant ceiling is $75,000, the cycle pattern is annual, and the program is currently between rounds. Applicants must be for-profit companies registered in the United States and operating in New Jersey, with revenue under $5 million and no more than one application per entity in a round. CSIT also excludes companies that are active recipients of two or more CSIT Seed or Demonstration Grants. The call targets companies at TRL 2 through 7 across eight clean-tech domains. The clearest fit is a startup that can show a defined path from research to product and can place that work inside one of the clean-tech categories, including chemicals and advanced materials, energy distribution and storage, energy efficiency, energy generation, green buildings, transportation, waste processing, or water and agriculture. Applicants are strongest when the proposal makes clear what the grant will de-risk and why the team can finish the work inside a one-year development window.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
