SME Defence Call
Funds dual-use research in the Netherlands across space, quantum, and smart materials with strategic defence relevance.
The SME Defence Call is the dual-use branch of Holland High Tech / Topsector HTSM support for Dutch high-tech SMEs. It follows the same two-year collaborative model as the hightech call, but the scope is narrower: Space, Quantum, and Smart Materials, aligned with the Dutch Defence Strategy for Industry and Innovation 2025-2029. It is a grant programme with the same funding structure as the main SME Hightech Call. SMEs can receive up to €300,000 at a 50 percent grant rate, research partners can receive up to €150,000 at 80 percent, and the 2025 round sat inside a €5 million budget with €3.3 million directed to SMEs. The call required SME status, dual-use relevance, and a consortium led by a Dutch company working with research partners. The best fit is a team that can show both technical ambition and a defence-relevant use case without losing the civilian market logic that makes the project credible. Holland High Tech handles the route through its own portal, so applicants need to arrive with a clear collaboration structure, the right partner mix, and a project that can justify why the dual-use angle matters now.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
