Integrated Data Systems & Services (IDSS)

Helps Integrated Data Systems & Services for build and scale national data infrastructure enabling AI-driven research across scientific disciplines.

NSF Office of Advanced CyberinfrastructureUnited StatesCooperative agreement

Integrated Data Systems & Services is an NSF Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure cooperative-agreement program for national data and cyberinfrastructure systems. It supports development, scaling, and operation of systems that enable data- and AI-driven research and education across scientific disciplines, so the emphasis is on shared infrastructure with national reach rather than a narrow single-lab tool. The current solicitation is NSF 26-509, with a July 28, 2026 deadline and an annual cycle thereafter. The program is organized into Category I Development and Deployment, Category II Transition and Enhancement, and Category III Planning, with three to nine awards expected in total. Collaborative research proposals are not permitted. Each organization may submit one lead proposal per category, and a PI or co-PI may appear on at most one proposal across Categories I and II. That structure favors institutions that can own a national-scale service, not just a one-off research result. Strong submissions should show a clear operational home, a bounded scope, and a plan that can move a data platform from concept into sustained use with enough discipline to survive the transition from proposal to service.
