FCT Mobility Programme

The FCT Mobility Programme is a one-off PRR-funded call (investment RE-C06-i06 — Ciência Mais Capacitação) supporting medium- and long-term international mobility for doctoral researchers. The programme has two modalities: FCT Mobility outgoing (2–11 consecutive months abroad for researchers affiliated with Portuguese R&D units or Associate Laboratories) and FCT Mobility incoming (1–3 consecutive months in Portugal for researchers affiliated with foreign institutions). Maximum funding is EUR 27,027 per mobility, paid in a single instalment at the start of the mobility period; funding rate is 100% of eligible investment. Total call budget: EUR 5 million, all from the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The call opened 7 November 2024 and closed 31 December 2025 (single rolling window with seven quarterly evaluation moments). At least 185 mobilities were expected; the final cohort approved 476 of 495 applications (96.16% approval rate) for total funding of EUR 1,900,230. All supports must be contracted by 31 March 2026 to remain within the PRR eligibility window.
