FCT Mobility
Funds Portuguese research mobility projects through grants supporting researcher and institutional mobility activities.

The single FCT Mobility 2024–2025 call ran from 7 November 2024 to 31 December 2025, funded entirely by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (investment RE-C06-i06 — Ciência Mais Capacitação). Total call budget was EUR 5 million; at least 185 mobilities were expected. By the close of the seventh and final evaluation moment in February 2026, FCT had received 495 applications, approved 476 (96.16% approval rate), and committed EUR 1,900,230 in total funding. Contracting and payment processes are underway and must complete by 31 March 2026 to remain within the PRR eligibility window.
Maximum funding per mobility is EUR 27,027 (non-refundable, 100% funding rate, paid in a single instalment at the start of the mobility period). Applicants are researchers affiliated as integrated members of Portuguese R&D units or with a contractual relationship to an Associate Laboratory. Proposals are submitted in English through a Formstack form and evaluated at least once every three months by a panel of independent foreign-based experts; for outgoing proposals with mobility of 5 months or less, a faster evaluation procedure is available.
International mobility of doctoral researchers: outgoing (Portuguese researchers to foreign institutions, 2–11 months) and incoming (foreign researchers to Portuguese R&D units in mainland Portugal, Azores or Madeira, 1–3 months).
