Forskningsprofiler (Research Profiles)

Offers large-scale research environments at Sweden's newer universities co-built with industry.

Forskningsprofiler is one of KK-stiftelsen's long-horizon routes for building research environments at up to three collaborating universities in Sweden's target group. It supports strategically important academic settings that are expected to develop over many years and stay closely connected to industry. The programme is built for mature research and education environments rather than early-stage project consortia. Projects can receive up to 40 million SEK over as long as 8 years. An interest notification is required before a full application, and the current cycle opens in September with a February deadline and a May decision. Universities must contribute at least 30% of the requested amount, and industry co-financing must match the KK grant. The programme is limited to universities in Sweden, with collaboration across institutions encouraged. The route fits applicants that already have a strong research base and can show why a larger, coordinated environment deserves long-term support. Strong proposals usually combine a clear research direction, visible partner commitment, and a credible plan for how the environment will persist beyond the grant period.
