Forskningsprofiler (Research Profiles) is KK-stiftelsen's flagship long-term funding instrument for building lasting research environments at Swedish newer universities in close collaboration with industry. The 2025/26 call offered the highest award in KK-stiftelsen's portfolio: up to 40 million SEK per project over an eight-year period, with project starts scheduled between August and December 2026. The program supported up to three collaborating universities from KK-stiftelsen's 22-institution target group per application. An interest notification deadline of October 10, 2025 was mandatory before the full application deadline of February 2, 2026, with decisions in May 2026.
Eligibility requires the lead applicant to be a university within KK-stiftelsen's target group with a well-established research and education environment. Co-financing obligations are the most stringent of any KK-stiftelsen program: multiple independent industry actors must co-fund the project with a combined contribution equal to at least 100 percent of the KK-stiftelsen grant, and the applicant university must additionally contribute at least 30 percent of the requested KK-stiftelsen amount from its own institutional funds. This dual co-funding requirement — both industry and university — means total project resources substantially exceed the KK-stiftelsen contribution.
Foskningsprofiler is designed for research groups with existing industrial relationships who are prepared to commit to an eight-year program agenda. The two-stage submission process, with a mandatory preliminary interest notification preceding the full application, means late-moving applicants cannot enter the cycle without first clearing the interest-notification gate. The 2025/26 cycle is now closed. The next cycle is expected to open in autumn 2026, with an interest notification deadline likely around October 2026. Prospective applicants should establish industry co-funding commitments and institutional approval well in advance.
Funds the creation and long-term development of research environments at Swedish newer universities in close collaboration with multiple industry partners, spanning any applied discipline relevant to those institutions.
