ESA Phi-Lab Sweden
Administers a delegated space technology program advancing space AI and edge-learning innovation with expert support.
ESA Phi-Lab Sweden is a six-year (2025–2031) program accelerating AI and edge learning technologies for the space sector. Total budget is EUR 5.2 million, funded 50/50 by ESA and Swedish national bodies (Vinnova + Swedish National Space Board). RISE serves as programme office — running calls, allocating grants — but is not the primary funder. The program targets two tracks: Software (AI-driven satellite autonomy, cognitive decision-making) and Hardware (energy-efficient, radiation-robust AI computing for orbit). Support includes research mentoring, business coaching, IP advisory, and access to RISE test facilities. Applications go through Vinnova's online portal with parallel submission to the Phi-Lab Sweden programme office.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
