Parkinson's UK Drug Accelerator Awards
Supports Translational drug discovery grants bridging lab findings to industry-ready data.
Drug Accelerator Awards fund translational drug-development projects that generate data suitable for advancing compounds into full-scale drug discovery with an industry partner. The standard award is up to £150,000 for 18 months; projects involving in vivo work may apply for up to £200,000. Eligible lead applicants include UK universities, NHS Trusts, and small start-up biotech companies — making this the only Parkinson's UK scheme that directly accepts for-profit applicants as lead. The 2026 round opens June 2026: preproposal deadline 4:00 PM 3 September 2026, full application deadline 22 October 2026. Review panels include industrial experts, academics, Parkinson's UK staff, and people with lived experience of Parkinson's. 2025 cohort: 3 of 17 preproposals ultimately funded (18% success from first stage).
