Project Grants are Parkinson's UK's flagship research scheme, supporting projects that address single or small groups of unanswered questions in Parkinson's disease. The scheme funds a broad scope — from understanding disease causes and links with other conditions, through drug discovery and biomarker investigation, to cohort studies and pilot clinical trials — with a maximum award of £400,000 over 36 months and an average historical award of £260,000. Applications follow a two-stage process (preproposal → invited full application) through the portal at research.parkinsons.org.uk. The 2026 round closed (full app deadline 8 April 2026); the next round preproposal window opens in October 2026. Success rate ~16% in 2025 (6 funded from 38 preproposals). All applicants must embed people with lived experience of Parkinson's in their research design and address equity, diversity, and inclusion.
