Senior Research Awards
Funds established United States investigators building preliminary inflammatory bowel disease evidence.
Senior Research Awards are one of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's main investigator routes for established IBD researchers. The programme supports work at public, private non-profit, or government institutions, with global eligibility as long as the host institution qualifies, and it is aimed at generating preliminary data for NIH and other larger funding sources. Awards run one to three years at up to $130,000 a year in total costs. Applicants submit a pre-application first and, if invited, move to a full proposal through proposalCENTRAL. The budget includes direct costs and indirect costs within that ceiling, and awardees may also access IBD Plexus biosamples and datasets if they contact the Plexus team in advance. The strongest applications come from independent MD or PhD investigators who can turn exploratory work into a credible next-stage funding case. The route is focused on Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and it fits projects with enough scientific maturity to produce preliminary data that can carry into a larger competitive application.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
