Crohn's & Colitis Foundation
Supports Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research, advocacy, and community resources across the United States.
Crohn's & Colitis Foundation is a US-based 501(c)(3) foundation focused on Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and other inflammatory bowel diseases. It was formed from the merger of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America and the Crohn's & Colitis Association of America, and it uses proposalCENTRAL for its investigator-led research calls.
Its research offering covers students, postdoctoral researchers, junior and senior investigators, clinical researchers, and product developers. Current award routes include Student Research Fellowship Awards at up to $2,500, Research Fellowship Awards up to $70,000 a year, Career Development Awards up to $102,500 a year, Senior Research Awards up to $130,000 a year, Clinical Research Investigator-Initiated Awards up to $250,000 a year, Litwin IBD Pioneers up to $130,000 for clinical work or $110,000 for lab-based work, IBD Ventures up to $500,000 a year, and the IBD Therapeutics Incubator at up to $1.5 million over three years. IBD Ventures is open to companies and academic investigators.
The foundation funds investigators globally from a US headquarters and keeps a clear line between academic research and product development. Most mechanisms start with a letter of inquiry, and the strategic brief is steady: generate preliminary data, move promising ideas toward independence, and build therapies or tools that can reach patients with Crohn's or colitis.
