Project Galileo
Runs Free Cloudflare Business-plan cyber security at-risk human rights civil society journalism sites.
Project Galileo is Cloudflare's in-kind security support program for human rights, civil society, journalism, and democracy organizations. It sits under Cloudflare Inc. and was launched in 2014 to help vulnerable public-interest sites stay online under attack, with service delivered as the equivalent of the Cloudflare Business plan rather than a cash award. The package includes unmetered DDoS mitigation, DNS, SSL, WAF, CDN, cache analytics, Cloudflare Workers, Zero Trust access, and Gateway. Admission is rolling through trusted civil-society partners or direct application, and the program now protects more than 2,900 internet properties across 120+ countries. It serves nonprofits and universities in particular, and for-profit businesses are not eligible. The best fit is a public-interest site that is visibly exposed to targeted attacks and can document mission, audience, and vulnerability. Strong applicants usually have a live domain, a clear civic or journalistic purpose, and a partner organization able to sponsor them when needed. The value is operational resilience, not grant capital, so success is measured by keeping the site accessible and stable.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
