Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant

Funds Colorado research institutions translating applied innovations into commercial technologies.

The Advanced Industries Proof of Concept Grant is Colorado OEDIT's state program for research institutions that want to commercialize applied research in the state's advanced industries. It sits in the same family as the Early-Stage Capital and Retention Grant, but it is built for universities and approved federal labs rather than operating companies. Awards go up to $150,000, and the program requires a 1:3 institution-to-state cash match, so a full award needs $50,000 in institution cash. Applications open twice a year, from January to March and again from July to September, through OEDIT's online portal. Pre-qualification must come from the technology transfer office, and review typically takes 10 to 12 weeks through the same five-stage process used for the ESCR Grant. Eligibility is limited to named Colorado institutions and approved federal labs. The strongest fit is an institution with a clear commercialization path, a transfer office that can manage the submission, and research that sits squarely inside one of Colorado's seven advanced industries. The program is narrow by design, so proposals do best when they show a specific market path and a realistic route from applied research to product development.
