DOE Carbon Dioxide Removal Shot (CDR)
Supports United States carbon dioxide removal research through DOE strategy and planning pathways.
The Carbon Negative Shot is DOE's decadal goal to reduce carbon dioxide removal (CDR) costs to under $100 per net metric tonne of CO2-equivalent by 2032. The strategy document remains posted under HGEO (the former FECM office, now renamed Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office). OCED terminated 24 projects totalling $3.7 billion in May 2025, primarily CCS and decarbonization initiatives. No 2026 CDR Shot-branded funding opportunities are listed.
