Blue Knight QuickFire Challenge Program
Offers co-funded challenges through J&J and BARDA for public health security technologies in JLABS communities.
Blue Knight is a joint initiative between Johnson & Johnson Innovation–JLABS and BARDA (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, part of US HHS) that produces themed QuickFire Challenge cycles for public health security threats. The 2023 Project NextGen cycle had a $10M total pool — up to $1M per awardee for pre-clinical solutions and up to $3M for clinical-stage solutions. Blue Knight cycles are restricted to current or alumni JLABS Blue Knight residents (or teams that include one as a collaborator). BARDA co-funding means awardees must execute a separate BARDA agreement with U.S. government reporting and use-of-funds oversight alongside the J&J QuickFire agreement.
