Johnson & Johnson Innovation
Connects Johnson and Johnson Innovation, enterprise platform matching founders with J&J resources for life science ventures.
Johnson & Johnson Innovation is the company's early-stage innovation platform for life science and health technology teams, now concentrated on pharma and medtech after the 2024 Kenvue separation. It connects founders to the J&J ecosystem through challenge prizes, incubator access, and venture capital, with QuickFire Challenges as the non-dilutive public route and JLABS as the incubator arm.
QuickFire rounds are launched several times a year and award between $50,000 and $10 million depending on the theme. JLABS offers no-equity residency and virtual membership across eight sites, with more than 375 companies using the network. The record also points to Blue Knight, Nurses Innovate, and other themed challenge series, plus venture activity through JJDC.
The model favors teams with a tightly defined clinical or technical problem, especially in surgery, oncology, neuroscience, immunology, and digital health. QuickFire is strongest when a company can show a crisp use case, a credible development path, and willingness to engage J&J scientists and business leads. Awards are no-strings-attached, and the challenge route is open competition rather than a conventional grant review.
