MassVentures Catalyst Clean Energy Grants
Offers MassVentures Catalyst Clean Energy Grants, supporting MassVentures and MassCEC jointly administer Catalyst as a clean energy grant.
MassVentures and MassCEC jointly administer Catalyst as a clean energy grant program for Massachusetts-based researchers and early-stage companies. The program focuses on technologies at TRL 2-4 and combines standard Catalyst awards with a DICES track for certified or certifiable women-owned or minority-owned startups. Each grant is up to $75,000. In the 2026 cycle, Catalyst offered 7 awards and DICES added 3 more at the same level. The program runs twice a year, with applications opening roughly in January and August, and finalists receiving pitch coaching and business mentoring before awards are announced. Eligibility is broad on organization type but narrow on stage: the lead applicant can be a Massachusetts-based research institution or an early-stage clean energy company, and the work needs to sit in clean energy rather than a general-purpose startup plan. Teams that can explain the technology path clearly, show a credible path to deployment, and engage with mentors tend to fit best.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
