The Michigan Auto Supplier Transition Program (MAST-P) is a Michigan Economic Development Corporation initiative for auto suppliers that need to move away from internal combustion engine production. It is funded through the U.S. Treasury's State Small Business Credit Initiative Investing in America Small Business Opportunity Program and delivered through MEDC with Automation Alley as lead applicant and platform host. The program is not cash grant funding. It provides no-cost advisory services with a three-year budget of $9 million and a target of more than 500 supplier participants, focused on very small businesses, especially firms with fewer than 10 employees, in Oakland, Wayne, Macomb, St. Clair, Lapeer, and Kent counties. Michigan Manufacturers Association, MMTC, the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council, and the University of Michigan Economic Growth Institute are part of the delivery network. The fit is a supplier that needs transition support, not capital, and operates inside the counties and industry segment the program was built to serve.
