NC IDEA ENGAGE sits under NC IDEA, the Durham private foundation founded in 2006, and it is the smallest of the foundation's ecosystem-facing grants. The program supports organizations and individuals that run programs, events, or initiatives strengthening North Carolina's entrepreneurship ecosystem, with grants capped at $5,000. It is a support route for ecosystem builders rather than startup founders. ENGAGE is reviewed on a rolling monthly basis. Applications must arrive at least 60 days before the funded activity begins, decisions usually come in 4 to 6 weeks, and the funds must be spent within one year. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, for-profits, local governments, colleges, universities, capital providers such as seed funds and angel groups, service providers, and community organizers operating in North Carolina. The program favors concrete, measurable ecosystem work with a clear public benefit. Strong proposals usually align with diverse and inclusive entrepreneurship, serve underserved communities, and reach beyond the Research Triangle Park with a specific event, program, or community intervention. ENGAGE is a fit when a small grant can unlock a defined local activity and the applicant can show a practical plan for timing, delivery, and outcomes.

Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
