Innovation Works Investment is the capital side of Innovation Works in southwestern Pennsylvania, one of the four Ben Franklin Technology Partners regional centers. Founded in 1988, the organization serves nine counties around Pittsburgh and backs founders and businesses that drive regional innovation. Its published profile says it has invested more than $120 million, supported more than 780 companies, and helped those companies raise $3.54 billion in follow-on funding. The wider platform includes the Seed Fund, with initial investments of $150,000 to $250,000 and up to $800,000 total, plus AlphaLab, the Robotics Factory, Manufacturing Assistance, and the Innovation Adoption Program. That mix gives the organization a reach from early concept work through manufacturing adoption and scale. Applicants are strongest when they have a scalable technology, a dedicated team, and a credible market path in southwestern Pennsylvania. Innovation Works pairs capital with managing directors, expert networks, and operating support, so the relationship is built around company development as much as check size.
