PA Keystone Innovation Zone Tax Credit
Supports Pennsylvania Keystone Innovation programs for small businesses advancing innovation partnerships.
PA Keystone Innovation Zone Tax Credit is Pennsylvania's tax-credit program for younger for-profit companies operating inside designated KIZ areas. It sits under Pennsylvania DCED and is aimed at technology businesses that are still within the zone's age limit. The route is a state tax incentive, not a grant competition. The program offers up to $100,000 a year, with a statewide pool of $15 million and a benefit calculated as 50 percent of year-over-year gross revenue growth. Applications are due each December 1, with awards announced the following May. It is annual, limited to companies under eight years old in KIZ boundaries, and it expects applicants to fit designated industry sectors. The strongest applicants are companies with real revenue growth, a clear KIZ location, and a clean grasp of the transferability rules. Because the credit is tied to growth and zone compliance, precision in filings matters as much as the underlying business story. The program is most useful to early-stage tech firms that have moved beyond pure concept work and can show taxable activity inside Pennsylvania.
