Almi (Almi Företagspartner) is Sweden's state-owned business development company. It sits inside the public financing system rather than a commercial bank, and its remit covers SMEs at every growth stage, with support for companies that need capital, ownership finance, or advisory input.

Its main tools are loans and equity, with one true grant route in the portfolio: the Verification Grant. The business, green, growth, innovation, micro, and export loans are all part of the same platform, and the verification grant reaches SEK 100,000 for companies or SEK 25,000 for private individuals. The grant does not require co-financing, while the loan side is built for Swedish-registered companies with up to 250 employees and standard EU SME size thresholds.

Almi is strongest for Swedish firms that need patient finance alongside practical advice. The business loan page says the company typically covers 30 to 50 percent of a capital need and turns around cases in about three to four weeks, so the fit is usually a business that can combine Almi money with bank capital, owner capital, or a clear early-stage validation plan.
